In a unique initiative by Punjab government to bring Punjab at a prominent position on the startup map of India, progressive Punjab in association with Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC) conducted startup Weekend Punjab at Entrepreneur Development Centre from 23rd October to 25th October, IT Park Chandigarh. The 54 hour duration event was inaugurated by Sh. Manjit Brar – IAS, also the former IT director of Chandigarh.

In this program, various types of ideas came forward from 16 teams, some ideas are from: core engineering, from health care and innovation in health care, civic sense and hygiene, agriculture and organic farming, hyper local services, IT and product development based ideas, finance and innovation in currency handling, glamour and Bollywood and a lot many more.

Over 400 people attended the Startup session at Invest Punjab Investor Summit 2015. At the Summit, Startup Weekend Punjab had its finals at Invest Punjab Summit at ISB Mohali. Out of the 17 teams that pitched their various Business Ideas, three made it to the top three.

The Noted Jury from Academia and the Industry awarded CERVICAL KIT team as the top winners, the idea was to create a portable low cost kit for women to Pre – diagnose cervical cancer and STD’s. The team has also been provided access to send fund by some of the prominent entrepreneurs from the region. Mr. Dua from Nectar Life Sciences promised the initial seed Money to the team led by innovator Shwetika Kumar. The 2nd winner was Let’s Ride, a bike renting system and open market place for two wheelers only. The third winners were Bento Tiffin, a team that whose idea was an open market place, on a customized tiffin delivered at your doorsteps.
