Startup Weekend Landra, Punjab

Startup Weekend Landran, Punjab

The Startup Weekend, organized by the Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC) at CGC Landran turns out to be a huge success with an excellent blend of professionals and students participating and pitching their innovative ideas.

With students as more than 95% of our participants this time, the event leads to some impressive results. To our utmost surprise, there was a great mix of business ideas that not only emphasized profit-making blue-chip business plans but also on social & environmental issues that required immediate attention.

  • Landran chapter witnessed more than 50% of women participation, the highest ever noticed in a similar event.
  • Mr. Samra, aged 63 years was the eldest participant in the event and displayed an extraordinary passion for his creative idea and how it can contribute towards society.
  • The idea of coming up with a to-let service found its investors on the second day itself, who promised to provide the required funds to bring this idea to life.
  • Some social and environmental issues were highlighted like the increasing demand of energy and society’s menace like begging and feeding the stray dogs.

The best part which was realized by SACC India was the fact that students adopted the habit of identifying the problem around them and coming up with a solution. This was also the objective of SACC India: To harness the power of intellect in students and help them in bringing out the hidden talent in them.

In addition to this, a Yoga session by Yoga Guru, Shanti and Spiritual guide, Swami Satyeshananda’s Ji’ swords of wisdom were the cornerstones of the event.

We hope that this event by SACC has planted a great seed in the vicinity of CGC, Landran, which under the able guidance of Mr. Satnam Singh Sandhu, who himself is a perfect role model for the students coming from remote areas of Punjab, to shed the language barriers and bring out the best entrepreneurs in them subsequently creating more ‘job creators’ than job seekers.

This is the mission of SACC India being led by Mr. Manipal Dhariwal, an epitome of success and inspiration for the young entrepreneurs of this region.
